What do you do outside of Palantir?

When at home, I enjoy sitting down with a good book, watching an interesting movie, or playing the latest title for my Nintendo handheld. Chicago is a great town for eating out and I like finding new and unique dining options. Once or twice a year, I try to make a trip outside the United States; last winter, I got to visit Antarctica for the first time!

Star Trek or Star Wars?

I take my sci-fi fandom choices pretty seriously, so let's get specific:

TV: Star Trek seasons one and two (but not so much three) of the original series; seasons three through five of The Next Generation; and most of Deep Space Nine, as well as Battlestar Galactica (remake), The Prisoner (original), Doctor Who, and Torchwood: Children of Earth.

Movies: Star Wars episodes IV and V, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Brazil, Blade Runner, Alien, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and when I'm in the right mood, The Last Starfighter tops everything else on the list.

What are your top three video games ever?

  1. The greatest epic sci-fi space shooter role-playing game ever made, Star Control II (now released as an open source project and available for free at http://sc2.sourceforge.net/).
  2. Civilization II, because it consumed most of my sophomore year of college.
  3. Chrono Trigger. This is a classic game from the mid-90s that I only recently completed, but its story and characters still stand up today.
